The study of retail trade by Mamatkulov O. and Veryaskina D. as part of the course work
Steadily developing Internet and recent COVID-19 pandemic encouraged firms to sell goods online. The role of E-commerce in general competition remains discutable. This paper estimates econometric Logit models with the aggregated geo-data on sales to assess the impact of online grocers’ emergence on market competition and consumers. Counterfactual simulations of the entry of two types of online retailers allowed us to project the concentration and welfare changes that affect the consumers as much as the existing grocers.
