Student research

Below are some of the areas of research that the Center's research assistants have worked / are working on under the guidance of the Center's researchers:

Agglomeration effects in Russia (V.I. Ivanova; K. Zhazhin). The work aims to answer the question of whether productivity increases with increasing employment density in Russian municipalities.

The existence of equilibria in the Krugman model of international trade (SG Kokovin; F. Slepov). The article considers the classical Krugman model in general terms: countries with arbitrary additive utilities and other parameters. Some necessary and some sufficient conditions for the utility and cost functions are found for the existence and uniqueness of equilibrium, while offering at the same time a new theoretical technique for modeling: "a normalized function of attainable profit."

Pricing strategies, costs of promoting and positioning firms in competition on online platforms (M.S. Sandomirskaya, D.A. Timoshenko). Development of a game-theoretic model, the purpose of which is to describe how the structure of demand, advertising costs on each platform and the budgets of online stores affect the equilibrium distribution of prices and variance in the ratings of online stores on different platforms.

Economics of Paid Crowdsourcing Platforms (A. Saltan; E. Yankov). As part of the study, the task was to study the mechanisms of the internal structure of paid crowdsourcing platforms.

Economic indicators of Russian companies during periods of crises and shocks (S.G. Kokovin; N. Telyatnikov). Periods of intense economic growth, declines, depressions, crises and shocks are popular and controversial topics for research. In the recent history of Russia, in the last thirty years alone, there have been three serious economic crises that have led to significant changes in the economy. Firms' behavior, organizational structure and financial policies can change during different periods of the business cycle. The paper will consider the financial crisis of 2008-2009 in Russia from the point of view of the formation of market indices of firms from various parameters of the firm. The paper considers two market indicators (predicted variables), the Tobin ratio and the market-to-book ratio (M / B ratio) in the pre-crisis period, at the time of the crisis and several years after it, depending on microeconomic and macroeconomic data.

Revealing collusion between participants in electronic auctions when purchasing goods, works and services by certain types of legal entities (K Efimov). The main objective of this study is to analyze existing models for identifying cartels and develop proposals for improving these models.

Investigation of the influence of the distribution of wages on the efforts of employees during the recruitment procedure as a knockout tournament (M.S. Sandomirskaya; D.I. Tabashnikova). The objective of the study is to determine the conditions under which the players show the highest total level of effort or, conversely, the lowest, which indicates an ineffective design of the recruitment procedure (for example, insufficient announced wages) with the subsequent formalization of the model in terms of tournament theory.

The model of spatial competition in the city on the pharmacy market of Moscow and the Moscow region (M. Borovkov). An approach is proposed for manual construction of explanatory factors in the geomarketing task of predicting the revenue of a retail outlet based on geographic data.

Resource export and transfer pricing (D. Gomtsyan; M. Grebenshchikova). The article is aimed at studying transfer pricing for natural resources exported from developing countries.
