The Russian grocery retail industry develops dynamically, but its empirical studies remain insufficient, largely due to the difficulty of accessing data. Nowadays, some data have become available to researchers. This paper describes the available data on the grocery retail industry in St. Petersburg, including (i) store location data, (ii) socioeconomic characteristics of local markets, and (iii) sales data. For each data block, we outline collection and processing, and discuss the potential use in further research.
