City - a place where economic activity is concentrated in the area. In order to arise and grow the city, the concentration of this activity should be beneficial to economic agents (firms, individuals). Lasting for over 200 years the concentration of economic activity is a global process, it is possible to study and predict. What mechanisms affect the profitability of the economic concentration? How do the scale of business, the nature of the labor market, the rate and distribution channels of knowledge and technology, transportation technology interact, defining the spatial structure of cities, regions and countries? Under what conditions will increase economic concentration has a positive effect, and when accompanied with such costs as overcrowding and lack of land? How was the concentration varied from a historical perspective? What is the optimum concentration for today and what will happen to the cities and regions in the future? How involved business in the process, what are the trends of urban development affect the market and how to benefit from this?
