International Conference «Factors and Tools of Metropolitan Regions Development» 21-23 October 2013
The main objective of the conference is to study foreign and Russian experience in research, modeling and design of the development of modern metropolitan regions. Projects of development in Greater Paris, Moscow, Saint-Petersburg and other larger world cities will be presented in the reports and speeches of Russian and foreign colleagues. Experience in implementing large transport and infrastructure projects that can have significant long-term impact on socio-economic development of metropolitan regions will also be addressed.
Why some metropolitan areas are progressing more successfully than others? What is their role in the development of institutional factors, human capital, transportation and infrastructure, industrial specialization? It is of great practical and scientific interest to find it out and the discussion is proposed to formulate conclusions and suggestions for approaches to modeling, assessing and design of cities, the most effective policies to increase and maintain the global competitiveness of metropolitan regions.

SUMMARY
